I’m not usually one to make resolutions so I figured I’d just put down a few of my goals for this year. some are blogging related and some personal but either one, I’m one of those people that needs to be held accountable or reminded about things and I’m such a list maker it’s not even funny. So, here’s a quick list of some things to *hopefully* come this year in 2013!
Craft more for our home (& actually blog about it). I do actually make quite a bit for our own home, but then I end up just speeding through the process of making it, putting it straight to use, and forget about taking photos or attempting a tutorial altogether. I’m hoping to share at least one thing each week that I made and challenge myself even further to write a tutorial for at least every other one.
–I guess before that, I should probably set the smaller goal of reorganizing and simplifying my craft room so that there is not only space to make said project, but I’ll actually feel inspired to get some work done in there.
Make myself more presentable each day. I got off easy for a while playing the new mommy card with Natalia and then the pregnant mama card the second half of this year. You know the look I’m talking about–yoga pants, pajamas, pony tails and no makeup. I figure that since there’s a lot of days I don’t even have to leave our house, what’s the use. But you know what? When you look better, you feel better so I’m going to take the few extra minutes each morning to actually put on an outfit consisting of public-approved clothing and maybe even a little eyeliner here and there. What a difference I’m sure it’ll make. I also notice that on the occasion that I already do these things, I get a LOT more accomplished. Double win.
Going along with the one above, I’m going to start working out 2-3 times per week. I go through phases where I’m decently diligent about it for a while and then plateau off into nothing. I’m not trying to lose weight or anything because that’s actually something I’d rather not do as much of, but rather just get more in shape. Until the baby’s born, it will be a good way to get my body into preparation mode for birthing and then toning back up after baby is born. I plan to do more of the yoga I already do and after baby, get back into biking some more as well. There’s a difference between skinny fat and skinny fit and I’d much rather be the latter to keep up with my two little ones. 😉
Cut down on reviews & giveaways. I didn’t get into this blogging game for product reviews and giveaways, but like so many other blogs that I read, mine has become overrun with them. Although I will participate in select events (& even be organizing a couple of my own) I won’t be blogging about products and giveaways nearly as often. With that being said, I will let you in on two for sure events for this year–the Pampered Preggie Event and our unnamed Newborn & New Mama event in May.
Have regular features. I’m working on weekly features right now so that you as readers can know what you should come to expect to see around here. I promise, we will still be writing about green topics, motherhood & parenting, as well as DIY though. 😉
Increase interaction. I try really hard to interact with everyone that comes through here and I read every single comment that is posted between here and the Facebook page. However, I don’t always get the time to sit down and respond to each one and I’m going to work really hard on that for this year. I’m actually a pretty social person but I’m going to make this a real priority this year.
365 Challenge. As someone who is into photography I am more than a tiny bit embarrassed that I don’t actually take a ton of photos anymore, and sometimes, the ones I do take just aren’t even worth posting. I won’t necessarily make a separate posting for these each day, simply because I don’t want to overcrowd anyone’s inbox or feed. Here’s one to kick off the year.
Little Miss got a new pretend cell phone and a coloring book with crayons for Christmas. This photo is so her and how she plays alone at home- talking to herself, “daddy” or play friends and usually coloring or multitasking of some sort. She actually looks more like she is jotting notes from her conversation which I just think adds to the cuteness factor. I just love her so much!
