When I was in high school, I had a real love of writing. It was therapeutic in a way and i t came so easy to me. I have to say, I was even pretty good at it, if I do say so myself. 😉
I found myself taking creative writing classes and even landed the spot as our high school yearbook editor for 2 years in a row. In fact, yearbook was actually the class that sparked a real interest in digital design and photography. Back to the writing part though…
I was always writing something— homework, off and on journaling (I was never good at being consistent with it, hence why I have a problem being so consistent with this blog), and even poetry. Some of the poetry was more than decent.
During this past move I came across a folder that contained at least fifty different poems in it, all printed on plain white paper. There were some that I couldn’t believe had even come from me, yet they were telling my stories and in my handwriting. Something happened along the way and I just stopped writing as much. I stopped drawing along with it because I became too busy. Then I had Natalia, later Kaliah, and now I know what being busy really means. 😉
Thinking about where my life and my thoughts were back in high school, I think my writing came from an unhappy place. It fueled me. Now, I’m in such a different (happy) place in my life and I don’t feel that motivation to write like I did before to deal with thoughts and memories.
You know, I started blogging as a way to keep my family up to date with my life when I moved out of their house, and later across the country. It morphed into showing off our first baby and the small projects I was teaching myself to do. Before I knew it, people I didn’t know were visiting my site by the tens- then hundreds. I started this blog as a way to keep my personal life more private. What ended up happening was I abandoned my old blog, working on this one more and more.
Now, I’m regretting it because I seem to have a really terrible memory lately and I want a way to remember every stop along this journey with my family. That being said, I’m considering changing some things with this blog.
–I’m going to start sharing our home makeover efforts with you guys.
–I’m going to dig a little deeper into our daily life stuff–running a business from home with two kids, having a toddler, and learning to be happier.
–I’m planning to cut back even more on product reviews and focus more on DIY projects and parenting topics.
