I feel like a LOT happened this summer. There was a lot that I didn’t write about, for one reason or another, and there is a lot I’m still dying to tell you about.
Here’s a big one–we bought a house! I’m excited beyond words really but I feel really lucky that we have hit this milestone at only 23. Okay, so into the juicy details (because I know that all you really care about 😉 ). The house is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath modest home on 3 1/2 acres and on the river. Well, to be totally honest we have to walk across the street to get to the river. We have a large three bay garage that is perfect for storing all our toys and using the entire third bay for our business’s storage and packaging needs. The driveway is lined with trees and the garden bed that wraps around the large yard has such a variety of plants planted that there are always flowers of some sort in bloom. The view from the back isn’t too shabby either…
Okay, so I guess it’s pretty pleasant actually. 😉
It really is a dream come true to be official homeowners. It seems like for most of my life I’ve bounced around from place to place every year or so. I’ve never really even had a chance to make my stamp on a place and really feel like it was a house I had turned into a home for my family. Without any pun intended, I found such an awesome way to commemorate this big milestone.
In case you’re confused, this address stamp (see, there was the pun) by Angelique Ink gives me the warm and fuzzies just thinking about how it represents something so permanent. Aside from having a permanent residence, the stamp is nicely made and high quality, so I’m sure it will be around a long time as well.
So what goes into these beautiful stamps?
First the address is hand-lettered/designed with a calligraphy pen–by Angi herself! The best drafted design then gets scanned into the computer at a high resolution. She brings it in to design software and straightens it up to make sure it fits the desired stamp size, then converts it to vector so it can be made into the stamp. Angi doesn’t manufacture the stamps herself (this is a whole different art and business!), so she uses a stamp-making company to do the laser engraving of her designs.
I really love the way it looks. So much that it makes me sad that we don’t send as much physical mail anymore. Nowadays we keep up with each other via Facebook and set our bills to auto pay. I’m going to make a point this year for Christmas to send out cards too our loved ones. Of course, I plan to use my stamp for every one of them. Maybe I’ll even take a shot at hand addressing the ‘to’ portion to coordinate. It’ll be a fun, creative project. Plus, I love taking a stab at new kinds of creative outlets.
You also get a custom quote done as well. Think of all the Christmas gift goodness you could create with a half a dozen or so different stamps. 😉
For those of you that just don’t find yourself doing anything that you think you could use a stamp for, Angi also does custom work for logos, save the dates, wedding invitiations, and pretty much any custom calligraphy work you could dream up. Go for it, she’s so sweet to work with. =)
