I talked a little bit about how much of a difference was made in my postpartum healing by using these cloth pads with removable ice packs by Pampered Mama. As much as those helped to soothe tender areas, the sitz bath spray from Motherlove provided me with next to instant relief from postpartum healing pains. Most of that specific pain came from having to get stitches and being able to topically apply something was a great relief.
The spray utilizes organic herbal ingredients such as: witch hazel herb, yarrow herb, uva ursi herb, grain alcohol, lavender essential oil, and grapefruit essential oil. There is an excellent plant resource area of the Motherlove site that explains the origins and uses for each herb/plant used in the Motherlove line.
I love that I get the benefits of a sitz bath but in a spray form which I find to be more convenient Any new mama out there can tell you that it’s hard enough finding time to sleep, let alone being able to enjoy a bath instead of a 30 second (if you’re lucky) shower. You can spray it directly onto the sore area or onto pads.
One thing I notices with a few of our diapers is that they would give the baby small red marks on her thighs. Since they were absorbing so much liquid, it was keeping the moisture against her skin in those areas due to the elastic. My poor baby ended up with a red area that looked almost like a sunburn. =( After using coconut oil on it without seeing any dramatic results, I used the diaper rash and thrush cream on it and by the next morning, the marks were almost gone. By the end of the day, and after a couple more applications, the marks were gone completely!
