One thing I don’t want to worry about now that I’m nursing our second baby is that embarrassing moment when your milk leaks through your shirt. I mean, does anybody really want a moment like that? Surely not. After having my first baby my mother in law made some nursing pads for me out of flannel scraps. It was a quick and easy diy, not to mention super cheap because we were able to utilize scraps and not have to buy material specifically for the project. I nursed for a month and then pumped for the next six exclusively. It wasn’t fun, but it got the job done and I was really thankful to have the homemade nursing pads in comparison to the disposable ones that stick to you like glue sometimes.
This time around, I knew I wanted to try something that was just a little nicer and perhaps a little easier to get away with wearing in public. The flannel ones I had showed through sometimes and that’s not really the look I go for when I’m out in public..or at home for that matter. I got the opportunity to try Bamboobies and I have to say that I as really impressed with them.
I got one pair of the normal., everyday nursing pads as well as a pair of the overnight ones. You can see the everyday one int eh above photo. Notice that they are in the shape of a heart rather than a traditional circle. The shape actually helps the nursing pad mold to your body a little better and therefore doesn’t leave the unsightly lines in your clothing. They are also nice and trim so you don’t have any extra uncomfortable bulk either.
I’ve noticed that since Kaliah was able to get a better latch than Natalia was (we had to use a shield with her), that I end up leaking more throughout the day. My supply is much better this time around and because we nurse really often, I also have the issue of multiple letdowns during the day. By let down I mean when I’m nursing and the milk actually starts to flow, not that I’m actually let down, haha. I can easily leak through the old flannel pads during only a single nursing session, whereas the Bamboobies keep me protected.
The overnight pads have actually become my favorite out of all the ones I own. I feel like they protect me the best and are able to withstand a lot. I also really love that both pairs have an uber soft bamboo velour as the inner fabric and your skin doesn’t stick to it like it can other fabrics. Talk about painful when you go to blindly nurse in the middle of the night and just about rip half your nipple off in the process.
All in all, they are an absolute must have for any expecting woman’s registry.
