Deciding to cloth diaper from birth meant that I had to accumulate a stash of smaller diapers. Natalia’s were all size medium, large, or one sized and not suitable for a newborn. Wahm Heidi, the face behind Jelly Bean Baby, sent us this cute daisy diaper. It’s an AI2 style with a side snapping closure. The outside is a waterproof pul fabric with a daisy print and the inside is a soft microfleece. The microfleece acts as a stay dry lining and keeps your baby feeling dry even after wetting their diaper.
Although I’m not generally a fan of pul anymore, I’ve found that it does work nicely for a newborn. The insert is made from two petals of zorb. The only reason I don’t usually choose pul as my first choice is because Natalia was suck a super soaker and the pul in her larger diapers tended to hold in too much moisture which would lead to a rash.
I’ve become a big fan of the AI2 style diapers where the insert snaps in because it functions somewhat like an AIO with the insert staying in place but cleans and dries quickly in the laundry.
It actually fits my little girl quite nicely. We started her in cloth at about 3 days old and even at that point, she was able to fit into this diaper on the smallest setting. She’s now one snap setting looser at 6 weeks. I was really happy to see that not only did it fit t her waist but it fit at her little legs as well.
