I Love Binky D Diapers

I was recently approached by a cloth diaper making wahm to review one of her diapers. I honestly can’t even begin to tell you how extremely excited I was because I’ve been stalking her diaper page and drooling over her creations since she opened up shop.

Ashley, the amazing mama behind Binky D Diapers has a 9 year old little girl as well as a darling little boy that’s about a year and a half.
“I always been crafty and dabbled here and there but never found anything I was passionate about. When my son was about 7 months old a friend introduced me to cloth diapering. I instantly fell in love. If I had known about the benefits of cloth diapering sooner I would have done it from day one. After purchasing many diapers, it came to me that I can make these. After much practice, and lots of ugly diapers I created my current product. I love making diapers and seeing what new crazy creations I can make.”

At Binky D Diapers you can chose between a hybrid fitted or an AI2 style diaper.
Hybrid Fitted diapers are constructed with a hidden layer of poly fleece to make the diaper leak resistant. The inner layer is made of cotton velour for softness against baby’s skin. The outer layer is made of either knit or woven cotton in fun and colorful prints. Each hybrid fitted comes with two snap in soakers constructed with layers of bamboo fleece for absorbancy and cotton velour for softness.

AI2 diapers are constructed with a hidden layer of PUL and an inner layer of minky or micro fleece. The outside of the diaper is constructed with woven or knit cotton material. AI2 diapers come with two snap in soakers constructed with layers of bamboo fleece and topped with minky or micro fleece.

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been falling in love with AI2s lately but we are also having an issue with a bunch of our soakers bunching in between my little girl’s legs. Just when I was trying to decide if we should move towards another style, I got this amazing opportunity to try a hybrid fitted. The soaker system is style like an AI2 where they snap in but the hidden fleece seems to be a better fit for us than hidden pul has been recently. Also, with a hybrid, you don’t have to worry about periodically heat sealing the diaper.

Isn’t it lovely? Feel free to just take a moment and stare in awe. There are three snaps on each wing for optimum fit. There are even crossover snaps so that you can fit the diaper on a smaller baby. I think that will be a huge plus since we have a baby due in April and a part of me is hoping that my toddler will be potty trained by then since she’ll be about 28 months. There are also three rise snap adjustments down the front of the diaper.

As I mentioned above, all Binky D Diapers come with two snap in soakers. The bottom one is shorter and acts as a doubler with a single snap to keep it in place. The top soaker is longer and snaps  in with double snaps. It’s long enough that you fold it over the doubler and it increases the absorbency in the wet zone. Huge plus for my active tummy sleeping toddler. You can also see those crossover snaps in this photo. =)

We are able to get a really great fit with this diaper. Having the snap in soakers, it was a concern about them bunching up but we actually haven’t had that problem at all thus far! She is able to be active in it and we don’t get any red marks on either leg or the tummy/waist area.

For my reviews, I like to let her wear the diaper until it’s wet to the touch on the outside. Obviously, of she poops she gets a change but you get the idea. I try to get a good average as to how long each diaper will last. Considering that I have a heavy wetting toddler, I was really impressed with this diaper. The average time for her was about 4-5 hours which is pretty amazing on it’s own. There was even one day where she wore it for about 8 hours and that was including a naptime! How many non-nighttime specific diapers do you have in your stash that can measure up to that? For me, less than what I could count on one hand.

All in all, this is definitely in my top favorites for my stash. I think it’s one of my hubby’s favorites as well because as soon as it’s been through the wash, it’s the first diaper he reaches for to put on her bum.
You can get your hands on a Binky D Diaper of your own by following her on Facebook. She tends to stock weekly on Sundays and you have to be fast to get one of her diapers since they sell out QUICK! She also makes custom orders and holy cow are they some super cute diapers. Here’s a few to pique your interest. ;)
