I must confess that I haven’t been doing a lot of adult reading lately. Nonetheless, my favorite author is Tess Gerritsen. The first book I read by her was back when I was in jr high. It was a book called Vanish . It was a riveting and very sad book to me. It shed light on things that are happening every day but get ignored by authorities. Not to give too much detail it delves a bit into the world of forced sexual slavery. It talks about women that are sold on this American dream and leave their home countries thinking they will be brought to America and provided with nice jobs such as workign in a bridal store or as a nanny. Instead they are illegally smuggled in and forced to do horrible things. It made me cry on several occasions but at the same time it’s packed with action. The whole story isn’t centered around this and it is so beautifully told that you just can’t put the book down.
Gerritsen slowly lets you in on details of the story, yet within less than the first 100 pages a woman pronounced dead has awoken in the morgue, killed two security guards and taken a hospital hostage. Intrigued??
When I was pregnant with Natalia I would get her books from the library and read a full one each day. I didn’t actually realize until I had read 5 or so that it was an actual series. I had realized the characters were the same but it hadn’t occurred to me that it was a single storyline. Nonetheless, I’ve read them all. Not to mention all her books have a FEMALE main character/heroine! Any seen the show on television Rizzoli & Isles?? It’s based on her books. 😉
They’re all just great reads!!
Gerritsen used to intern in the medical field so the medical aspects of the story are accurate but not an overload to the story. her writing style is so comfortable and easy to read that you’ve easily read a couple hundred pages before you even realize what time it is.
Check her out if you’re looking for something thrilling and will leave you wanting to read all the others.

Ok, I have read this one. The first one I read was the Surgeon. I didn’t know that show was based off of her books.
That’s why I like James Patterson’s womens murder club books, all female heroins.
Have you ever read J.D. Robb? It’s actually Nora Roberts but the J.D. Robb series is written as murder mysteries in the future that have a female heroin as well.

I haven’t. I actually haven’t read much of an adult selection lately. Now ask me about some basic board books and I may be in the game! LOL.

I’ve never heard of this author, but I’ll probably pick up her book at the library sometime.
On a completely different note, when did you get a new blog button??? I like it.

This book is actually #5 in the series, so if you plan to read them that way, just keep that in mind.
I made my own button & header. 😉

Vanish does sound like a book that would be interesting – albeit emotionally challenging – one to read. I’ll be ordering that from my library today.
On another note, I read your review of the Conscious Box. Ordered one yesterday afternoon, and am looking forward to receiving one later this month. Sounds like a great deal!
How do get involved with doing the reviews on so many interesting products? Could you email me to let me know? Thanks! (My email is on my blog page on the upper right hand side.)
