Rockin’ Green has an entire line of eco-friendly cleaning products that can be used all over your home as well as the ever popular cloth diaper safe detergent. I know you’ve all read the reviews on how to use it, heck, you can even read mine HERE, but today I’m here for another reason. Femme Rock!
Femme Rock isn’t just your average run-of-the-mill detergent. Is completely scent free and phosphate free and specially formulated with enzymes to work on super set in stains. This 16 oz bag is sure to last you many cycles.
Hand washing your mama cloth/cloth pads
There aren’t instructions on the package of Femme Rock for hand washing but I can assure you, it’s easy. The first thing you want to do is rinse your cloth using cold water until the water runs clear. The cold water helps make sure any stains don’t set. Also, if you rise these out right after using and then store in a wet bag, you will have less work for yourself when it comes time to wash them.
Then, fill your sink with hot water and a tablespoon of Femme Rock and add in your cloth. You’ll want to agitate a bit. You can choose to either do this with your hands (since the pads should already be rinsed) or something else. The water will still be white and foamy as in the photo to the left.
I then let them soak overnight. When I came back to them in the morning I could immediately tell the Femme Rock had been doing it’s job all night. Look at how gross that water is! Even though they were rinsed until the water ran clean before we even started the soak, the Femme Rock still worked some magic.
Next, you just drain the water and do a super super hot rinse–or two. As you can see below, there’s no staining. Wring them out and dry. I like to put mine on the drying rack with my diaper loads. =) The sun is a bonus cleaner and helps kill bacteria and keeps the pads sanitized.
So, for those of you that don’t have a large stash of mama cloth to do it’s own load, no worries. You can hand wash with minimal effort and a little Femme Rock.
You can get a 16 oz bag for only $11.95!

Thanks for the info! I wasn’t sure how to handwash, but I wouldn’t want to leave everything to sit for days.

I didn’t know they made wash for that! I have fragrance sensitivities so I need something very plain. This sounds perfect!

Wow I’m glad to hear they didn’t stain! I had a favorite pair (because they were very comfortable) but they just kept stains like no bodies business 🙁
Lovely review!

I just started experimenting with rinsing soaking and semi-hand washing my pads. They still stained even after sun drying ;(
